Historique :	Oeuvres exécutées à la fin de l'époque Louis XIV (1710-1715 ?). La première mention connue des trois panneaux remonte à 1938 seulement et les situe, dans la nef principale de l'église de la Salpêtrière. De là on a supposé qu'ils venaient de l'ancienne Pitié, alors que pourtant, aucun connaisseur des visites de 1903 et 1909 ne les y avaient signalés. Le roi assistant une mourante dans le 1er panneau est Louis le patron de l'église de la Salpêtrière. S'il s'avérait de plus que le saint agenouillé en prière du 3e panneau était Boniface de Tarse, dont les reliques avaient l'honneur d'une chapelle dans cette même église, il y aurait double argument pour établir que les trois panneaux se trouvaient d'origine sur le site. Extraits de leur cadre architectonique pour une raison ou une autre, la Salpêtrière les auraient longtemps tenus en réserve ; entre les deux guerres, la logique Monuments Historiques les aurait fait ressortir.
