Historique :	Il existait aux archives de l'Assistance publique une lettre de Vincent de Paul, disparue dans l'incendie de 1871, où il disait pour quelles raisons il déconseillait de confier à des religieuses l'Hôpital général 'Il en faudra au moins huit cents, écrivait-il, en substance, ces huit cents religieuses auraient une supérieure, cette supérieure serait plus puissante que le Roi !'. Cette lettre a été lue par M. Montreuil, directeur actuel, avant 71, et par le Dr. Bouneville.
