Historique :	Pour le Journal des Artiste de 1836, ce tableau serait l'oeuvre d'un Jérome Pesne, inconnu par ailleurs ; ce qui est certain c'est l'influence italienne évidente dans le type de la sainte, dans son costume, dans les petits personnages qui se poursuivent au second plan, tandis que l'ensemble nous paraît tout gothique et français de tradition, attaché encore aux principes de composition d'un Fouquet. Nous pensons que le cercle de pierres symbolise la protection que la sainte accorde à son troupeau et pourrait être la matérialisation de quelque texte contemporain. L'origine du tableau avant la Révolution n'a pu être établie. A l'église Saint-Merry depuis le 19e siècle.
